A Journey of Growth & Joy

At Chabad at Monterra, we are dedicated to making the Bat Mitzvah process a joyful and unforgettable transition into Jewish adulthood. When a girl turns 12, she becomes Bat Mitzvah. No matter the starting point, we help every girl shine and understand what this beautiful milestone truly means.

Understanding the Milestone

Becoming Bat Mitzvah is more than a ceremony; it is a young woman stepping into her role within the Jewish community. Every student is different, and we work with each girl to reach her unique potential. By the day of her Friday night celebration, our goal is for your daughter to confidently:

  • Gain general Jewish knowledge (Kashrus, Shabbos)
  • Understand the special Mitzvot of Jewish women (like Shabbat Candles and Challah)
  • Read Hebrew and recite meaningful prayers
  • Understand the deep meaning of her Jewish heritage
  • Deliver a public speech with pride and confidence

Frequently Asked Questions

What if my daughter has no prior Hebrew knowledge?
This is very common! Our "Mitzvah with a Smile" approach is designed to build confidence from the ground up. We ensure every girl feels successful and proud during her ceremony, regardless of her starting level.
Can family members participate in the Friday night service?
Yes, we love involving the family! During our initial planning meeting, Rabbi Adi and Malky will discuss the various special roles and readings that can be given to grandmothers, mothers, grandfathers, fathers, and other Jewish family members during the ceremony.
How is the milestone commemorated at Chabad?
Included in your ceremony fee, we honor this major life event with a beautiful, permanent dedication on our Tree of Life plaque inside the Shul.
Can I join the Bat Mitzvah Club at any point during the year?
No, there are two times a year when you can join:
1. At the beginning of the school year.
2. In January, after winter break.
Note: New students may need to take private lessons to build the required skills to join the group.
